(work in progress)
This work is about the rapidly declining practice of letting children “go out and play”.
It touches on areas of self-discovery, camaraderie, learning and wonderment whilst also referencing modern concerns and perceptions of danger, health and safety, child protection, voyeurism and even the legitimacy of photographing children at all.
The work seeks to raise questions of how these often contradictory benefits and concerns can be balanced in the modern world that we live in.
The photographer encourages the viewer to look beyond the boundaries of the image to expand the narrative in a unique manner.
